Built by security practitioners who got tired of watching legacy DLP fail.
Every enterprise security team we spoke to had the same story: employees using ChatGPT and Copilot every day, existing DLP tools showing zero detections, and nobody sure what was leaving. We built Unbound to fix that gap specifically.
Unbound Security was founded in 2023 and is based in Palo Alto. We are a small team focused on one problem: making it safe for employees to use the AI tools that make them productive.
The people building Unbound.
Rajaram Srinivasan
CEO, Co-founderPreviously led threat detection product at a data-loss prevention company. Started Unbound in 2023 after spending five years watching the DLP detection surface drift as AI tools proliferated, while the tools stood still.
Priya Nataraj
CTO, Co-founderMachine learning engineer who built NLP classification pipelines at a cybersecurity analytics firm. Joined as co-founder to own the detection engine.
Marcus Webb
Head of Security ResearchRed team practitioner with ten years in application security. Joined to map the AI-tool threat surface and translate it into detection rules.
Things we believe that shape what we build.
Blocking productivity is not security.
AI tools make employees meaningfully more productive. A security tool that blocks them wholesale is not protecting the company, it is creating a different risk: unenforced shadow usage. We build controls that employees can work within.
Security teams should not have to trust what we say.
Every detection decision Unbound makes is logged and auditable. What data was flagged, why, what action was taken, and when. Security teams should be able to verify our output, not just accept it.
The problem is the data leaving, not the tool it leaves through.
AI tool allowlists are a maintenance burden that becomes obsolete the day after you create them. We inspect content, not tool identity. New tools get the same inspection as approved ones automatically.
We publish what we find.
Our security research on AI tool risk is public. We share methodology, data, and findings with the security community regardless of whether it directly benefits us. An informed field is a safer field.
